SOFT SYNC - EVERYDAY ALIGNMENTS

SOFT SYNC – Everyday Alignments transforms the logic of historical split-flap displays into a large-scale digital environment of text, image, sound, and rhythm. Short diary-like observations unfold across a low-resolution display, continuously traversing through alphabets and visual states. ASCII and pixel-art aesthetics are used to foreground the granularity and instability of the underlying media. The work focuses on small daily misalignments – delayed garbage trucks, rearranged supermarket shelves, unreadable meetings – moments in which personal routines lose their coherence and merge with the rhythms of everyday life.
Two Monome256 grids extend the display by adding sculptural elements to the space, introducing additional pixel-based image structures and carefully designed audience interactions. Acoustic derived from the traversal of the displays create a dense but fragile sonic layer oscillating between mechanical regularity, noise, and the gradual dissolution of meaning into texture, rhythm, and pattern.

SOFT SYNC - Everyday Alignments is divided in seven parts, according to the seven days of the week. The videos show excerpts without the two monome256, which are also a significant part of the audiovisual setup.
