REFLUX-REFRACT
for flute and live-electronics composed in 2005 duration: 10' Reflux-Refract works with reflections and repercussions of specific sounds of the flute. By means of live processing, including delays, pitch-shifts and time-stretching, condensed textures are created that emphasize different sound characteristics and playing techniques of the flute. In the main part of the piece the live processing makes use of doublings of the flute part, that are slowed down so that the single voices increasingly drift apart from each other in time. The music unfolds as a thick harmonic progression with subtle microtonal inflections, mainly taking place in the lower register of the instrument. I composer Reflux-Refract for Anne LaBerge. |
